Goal of sports massage therapy

To manipulate and maneuver targeted muscle tissue, tendons and ligaments in such a way that relieves tension, promotes blood circulation and breaks down knots and scar tissue.

What sports massage involves

Typically a sports massage at the clinic will incorporate a mixture of different massage techniques. This includes Swedish as well as soft tissue massage and deep tissue massage therapy to stretch, compress and break down muscle fibers in a way that promotes faster healing.

Where applicable Aidan also uses techniques such as Deep Transverse Friction and Trigger Point therapy.

You can expect a portion of your first session to be focussed around Aidan understanding your injury history, lifestyle and activity levels to tailor a recovery plan that is optimised for your specific situation and circumstances.

If there’s any difficulty in attending the clinic, outcall services are also available to residents of Oxford upon request. I have a full UK driving license and portable equipment allowing myself to bring the same quality of treatment to your home.

Sports massage focuses on optimizing performance, relaxation and relieving more general muscular aches and pains typically through a range of different soft and deep tissue massage techniques. Conversely, MSK injury rehab focuses on restoring function and mobility following a particular injury or trauma to the body.

I specialise in both approaches in my Oxford clinic.
